All mega office supply stores, such as Office Max, Office Depot and Staples, have their own programs to reward loyal customers.  Cash back rewards are great since they allow you to put that money towards future purchases. Staples, for instance, gives you 10% back on purchase of paper, ink and toner, copy and print services,  and you can get $3 per ink cartridge recycled at the Staples store.

Cut Costs on Office Supplies with Free Stuff

Keep a close eye on rebates and coupons that give you a BOGO or a 100% cash back offer. The flyers of major office supply stores or even, your local newspaper will allow you to see what the latest rebates and offers are. Staples has a Hot Deals section on its website that allows you to check out weekly deals, deals on paper and other items and lots more. You can easily stock up your home office with free paper, markers and more.

Save Money on Printers and Printer Ink

Change the settings on your printer to use the least amount of ink while printing. In most printers, this is the ‘fast draft’ mode.  Printer ink, too, can be a big expense for a small or home business office. Cut costs by refilling cartridges or buying non-brand name inks. However, it will be a good idea to know what your printer cartridge looks and feels like so that you can get the right one.

The 3 Rs of green living – reduce, reuse and recycle, will not only help you cut costs on office supplies but also help create a greener workspace easily. Reduce consumption of energy, disposables and paper. Encourage team members to use email to communicate and discourage paper memos and notes.     Another simple but effective way of saving on printer overheads in the office is to change your font. For instance Times New Roman uses 30% less ink per job than Arial.

    There is also a font called ‘ecofont’ that claims to boost this saving again. 30% doesn’t sound like much but it can add up to be a huge amount over the course of a year!

    Also making your font size smaller can make a big difference.
